State Representative Jean Schmidt is currently serving her second term as State Representative for the 62nd Ohio House District, which encompasses the northwestern portion of Clermont County.
Rep. Schmidt is a dedicated public servant and has previously served in both the Ohio House of Representatives and the U.S. House of Representatives, spanning from 2001-2013. She was the first woman to serve southern Ohio in Congress.
In addition to public service, Rep. Schmidt has served as President of the Cincinnati Right to Life and on the Board of the Clermont County Public Library. Recently, she has enjoyed teaching Government and the Constitution at Chatfield College. She also coaches running for the St. Andrew-St. Elizabeth Seton Junior High Cross-County team, a position she has held for 24 years. Rep. Schmidt also volunteers at City Gospel Mission helping victims of the drug crisis through therapeutic running and training. She has completed 172 marathons in all 50 states, including 24 Boston Marathons.
Rep. Schmidt resides in Miami Township with her husband Peter. She has one grown daughter, Emilie, who is married to Nick and they have two sons, Michael and Anthony.
