LADIES' GALLERY

Mary Abel served three terms as a state representative. She represented Perry County, Hocking County, and parts of Licking and Athens counties. Representative Abel served on the following House committees:

-Agriculture and Natural Resources,

-Family Services,

-Finance and Appropriations,

-Children and Youth Subcommittee, and

-Human Services Subcommittee.

She was active in various community organizations, including: Athens Rotary, Athens County Children Services Board Citizens' Advisory Committee, American Association of University Women, Athens Rotary Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Women's Political Caucus, and Ohio University Institute for Local Government Administration and Rural Development Advisory Committee (co-chair). She was honored in 1991 as the Ohio Hunger Task Force Legislator of the Year.
