Suzanne Bergansky served as a Councilman-at-Large for Bedford Heights from 1981 to 1988, when she left to represent Cuyahoga County in the Ohio House of Representatives for two terms. Her terms in the Ohio House included service on the following Ohio House Committees:
-Agriculture and Natural Resources,
-Economic Development and Small Business,
-Education,
-Energy and Environment,
-Colleges and Universities Subcommittee,
-Public Safety and Highways, and
-State Government.
Bergansky's service in community organizations included the Southeast Special Classes for Handicapped and Retarded Children, past secretary of the Cuyahoga Valley Zonta Club, and member of the Bedford Schools Parent Teacher Association, Cuyahoga Women's Political Caucus, Bedford Heights Charter Review Commission, and Ohio Municipal League Environmental Affairs Commission. She was honored with the Outstanding Civic Award from Orange Community in 1989, the Solon Chamber of Commerce Appreciation Award, Bedford Kiwanis honorary membership, the Ohio Farmers Union Award, and Outstanding Citizen's Award.
