Virginia Aveni became a state representative after starting her family with three children. She later attended classes at Cleveland State University while serving in the Ohio House. Her previous education had included degrees from the University of Redlands in California and from the University of Arizona. During her tenure in the Ohio General Assembly, Aveni served on the following House committees:
-Energy and Environment,
-State Government,
-Transportation and Urban Affairs, and
-Governmental Affairs.
Virginia Aveni was involved in many community service organizations, including the Hillcrest Community Impact Review Commission, Y.W.C.A, and Erie Regional Transportation
